Prison Closures

The Governor wants to spend millions of dollars to keep the National Guard at correctional facilities.

The Governor’s proposed executive budget does not include language to shutter additional correctional facilities, but, according to Senator Dan Stec, that was true of last year as well and yet, Bare Hill will close next month.  Senator Stec said Instead of further closures, the Governor wants to spend millions to keep National Guard troops at state correctional facilities.  The Senator said in a Facebook post the best way to solve the retention and recruitment problem is to address safety in the facilities.
