New York State DEC Forest Rangers responded to several rescues and wildfire incidents across the state during the past week. In Franklin County, crews battled a 66-acre wildfire in the Town of Bombay that was blamed on burning debris piles. Rangers also assisted injured and exhausted hikers in Essex, Fulton, and Ulster counties, including a 53 year old Massachusetts climber hurt in a 30-foot fall. State officials say Forest Rangers also conducted prescribed burns and ATV enforcement operations during the busy week.
