NY Growing Old

The population of older New Yorkers, people over 60, is growing and the state is preparing to meet needs.

NY ranks as the fourth oldest state in the nation based on the number of residents who are aged 60 or older according to the Office for Aging.  To address the aging population the state has launched a program called “CAPABLE” or Community Aging in Place – Advancing Better Living for Elders.  The program provides in-home nursing visits, occupational therapy, and handy worker services.
