The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is awarding more than 2 POINT 1 million dollars in grants to expand composting programs statewide. Officials say the funding will help 27 municipalities start or grow food scrap recycling efforts, reducing landfill waste and methane emissions. Residents are encouraged to take part during Compost Awareness Week by using local programs or composting at home.
