New York is offering free freshwater fishing this Saturday and Sunday. The state Department of Environmental Conservation says fishing licenses will not be required during the annual Free Fishing Weekend, although all other fishing regulations remain in effect. Officials say the event encourages families to enjoy the outdoors and introduce new anglers to the sport.
