North Country loggers are losing a major pulpwood buyer after Finch Paper in Glens Falls announced plans to stop making its own pulp. The company will instead purchase pulp from outside producers, ending regional pulpwood purchases. Logging contractors say the move will cut income and force them toward less profitable chip mills. An industry group says Northeast wood markets have already dropped 40 percent in five years.
