Rape crisis programs across New York are facing more than $5 million in funding cuts this year through the state Office of Victim Services. Advocates say eight of the state’s 10 regions are affected, forcing some programs to cut staff, counseling and other services. Of 42 programs surveyed, 29 expect to reduce staffing. Lawmakers and advocates are calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to restore the funding.
